Applied AI Engineer

New York City · Full-time

No recruiting agencies. We do not use recruiting agencies and do not want to be contacted by them about this or any other role.

The role

Our customers already tell us Ease is better than what they used before. Your job is to make it so much better that they can't imagine going back. You'll build the AI capabilities that change what a behavioral health clinic can do, from catching documentation problems before a note is signed to agents that handle work clinic staff do by hand today.

What you'll do

  • Build AI features that sit inside real clinical workflows, such as checking a note against payer and compliance requirements before a clinician finalizes it

  • Design the evals that tell us whether those features are actually right, and keep them honest as models change

  • Spend real time with clinicians and billers to understand the workflow before you build

  • Prototype new AI capabilities, including voice agents, and take the ones that work all the way to production

  • Work closely with our CTO on where AI should change the product next

What we look for

  • Strong engineering skills and hands-on experience shipping LLM-based features to real users

  • Rigor about evaluation: you measure whether a model is right before you trust it

  • The judgment to know when AI is the answer and when it isn't

  • Comfort talking to customers and translating messy workflows into precise requirements

  • A strong quantitative or research background is a plus

Details

  • Based out of our New York City office

  • Base salary $170K to $275K plus equity, based on level of experience

About Ease

Ease is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, which led our $41M Series A to build the AI-native operating system for behavioral health. Behavioral health providers typically run their business on 6 to 10 disconnected tools for admissions, clinical documentation, and billing. Ease replaces all of them with one platform: CRM, EHR, and revenue cycle management on a single patient record, with AI doing work that used to take entire teams.

We serve independent clinics and large multi-location provider groups across the country, covering every level of care from outpatient and IOP to residential, detox, inpatient psychiatry, and medication-assisted treatment. The a16z funding is going directly into product and engineering.

The work shows up in patient care. Providers on Ease report documenting 60 to 70% faster, which opens 30 to 40% more sessions on clinicians' calendars, and cutting intake and admissions labor costs by half. When you ship a feature here, a clinic sees more patients the next week.

We're a rapidly growing team based out of our New York City office. There are no product managers: engineers talk to customers, decide what to build, and ship it in days. If you want to own a meaningful part of a product that changes how a whole sector of healthcare runs, this is the place.

Bring ease back into patient care.
